Mesa
The Mesa is the only hysteresis loop tracer on the market that can make measurements in the frequency range of 10 Hz and below. Competing units operate with more-easily generated 60 Hz drive fields, and can have errors of as much as 30% in coercivity (Hc) measurements.
This latest generation instrument is fully computer controlled and capable of displaying and measuring BH loops, magnetoresistance (MR/GMR), and magnetostriction.
All instruments are equipped with a "pattern memory" feature, to digitally cancel ambient magnetic fields and allow for operation at extremely high sensitivities, even in relatively noisy magnetic environments. Digital Signal Processing allows any remaining noise to be dramatically reduced by digital filtering algorithms.
Shb Instruments magnetic measurement systems can also be used for measurement of bulk magnetic material.
Options
The Mesa is the only instrument of its type designed to make measurements in the frequency range of 10 Hz and below, avoiding the substantial errors inherent in higher frequency operation.
The Mesa is controlled by a PC running Microsoft Windows, and uses internal DSP processors for high-speed waveform generation, digitization and processing. All instruments are equipped with a "pattern memory" feature to digitally cancel ambient magnetic fields and allow for operation at extremely high sensitivities, even in relatively noisy magnetic environments. Digital Signal Processing allows any remaining noise to be dramatically reduced by sophisticated digital filtering algorithms.
Options include pickup assembly size, drive coil diameter (maximum sample size), SECS/GEM support and Autoloading.

Magnetostriction & Magnetoresistance Pickup Assemblies for Mesa
Specialized magnetostriction pickups are used to measure the magnetostrictive effect in samples on thin substrates. The sample is bent using a set of three equally-spaced ceramic knife edges, and the change in Hk is then measured.

-
Resolution to one part in 10^8
-
Force on sample can be precisely controlled by setting in each individual recipe.
Magnetoresistance pickups have probe sets that measure with inline or rectangular configuration, in either Norm or Tran direction.
